Technology and Action for Sustainable Development

The Society for TASD, ( Technology and Action for Sustainable Development ), is a not-for-profit NGO established in 1989, dedicated to the cause of rapid environmentally sustainable, equitable social development of India and the developing countries of 'the third world', and is working in India jointly with village-level rural communities and groups since 1990, especially in Alwar/Rajasthan, Najafgarh, Uttaranchal-Pithoragarh with the mass support of the rural populations for multi-dimensional development of the micro watersheds which are their hereditary natural resource. These proliferating ground-level, grass-roots village communities/Groups/NGOs, though generally well-motivated, are largely isolated, sectorally limited, professionally weak and lacking the horizontal spread and vertical depth that is necessary for executing integrated, rural land-resource-based sustainable development projects. The Society for TASD, which after 1989, stimulated and inspired, and even steadily and altruistically financially aided and helped some of these, especially five of the better and more functional NGOs, who were inducted as members of the TASD umbrella division called CENDEVEN- Alwar/Rajasthan, and Gurgaon/Haryana, Uttaranchal-Pithoragarh Najafgarh, ( Centre for Development and Environment in Alwar/Rajasthan, Uttaranchal-Ramgarh/Landour/Pithoragarh & Najafgarh), has over a period of eight years, successfully amalgamated the grass-roots and traditional, yet rudimentary skills, and fragmented energies of these small village-level groups and NGOs into its own stronger, multi-disciplinary network, equipped with rich economic and technological expertise so essential to successful execution of wider integrated multi-sectoral watershed development and poverty- alleviation projects. As they grow in strength and functional effectiveness and integrity and credibility, the Society for TASD and its CENDEVEN induct more of the local groups and help them to strength, as they are helped with assignments and the execution of independent projects.

The aforesaid NGOs/ Groups are agreed to be part and parcel of the network of TASD-Cendevan (Alwar/Rajasthan, Uttaranchal-Pithoragarh & Najafgarh) for all macro-and micro-land resource-based watershed, and human-resource-based development programmes and schemes, under IWDP, and other Rural Development and HRD projects of various types in Alwar/Rajasthan, Uttaranchal-Ramgarh/Pithoragarh, Najafgarh, Solan in Himachal Pradesh,

Dist Gurgaon, Block Farukh Nagar, & Pataudi, Dist Jind & Bhiwani, Faridabad in Haryana, and MEWAT ( for the Mewat Development Authority’s programmes); Ramgarh in Dist Nainital and the CENDEVEN base in New Delhi.
